That Way Hat was started in 2009 by Geoffrey Mintz who was then living in China. He personally sources many of the hats we sell; all the “our own” and the madagascar hats, were manufactured specifically for us and our sister wholesale only company (Goal 2020). That Way Hat also helps US milliners to sell their hats through our website. These are carefully made hats that require skill and patience. They are often made as a comment on or participation in a fashion tradition. The Kentucky Derby, the Cocktail hat, the wedding hat. Formal occasions or fun times.

We ship almost all hats in a full sized box. Many other companies will squash your hat and put it into an envelope or tube. We don’t want you to get a hat that is all wrinkled. That’s why we send it in a big box. Because of this, we don’t offer express shipping. Shipment to California takes 5 days in transit. To the US North East about 4 days. Shipment to the US South takes about 2 days.
We ship by the US Postal Service (USPS) or United Parcel Service (UPS). We usually prefer USPS.
Each hat seller may set their own rates.
For hats shipped by That Way Hat itself, rates within the USA are:
By USPS usually $3.00 per order (any number of hats).
By UPS usually ranges from about $9 to $18, but is not faster than by USPS.
We can also send hats internationally. The international per order shipping rates are posted in the checkout process and may depend on the size of the shipping box and the country the hats will go to.
We charge sales tax on all orders shipped to destinations within New York State or Florida. Other places we do not charge sales taxes. But individual sellers maybe charge lcoal sales taxes if they are located in the state shipped to.
That Way Hat will not sell or otherwise share your email address, phone number, address or any other personal information without your explict consent or as required by a court order.
That Way Hat uses a server-based database to retain information that you enter into its forms, including your address, phone number, etc, for the purpose of shipping your orders and communicating with you. It keeps track of aggregate data such as statistics on which hats were viewed.
Under the European GDPR you are entitled to request that That Way Hat permanently deletes specific information about you upon your request. To request the deletion of information from our database, please email us.
That Way Hat was started by a third generation milliner. His grandfather, the proprietor of Bell’s Hats, owned four hats stores in the East Coast area, the last, which closed in the early 1960’s, was at 61 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn, NY. He made women’s hats and sold them in the stores. After a lapse of some years, the family re-entered the hat business in 2009.
