Made in Brooklyn, NYC this Cabbie hat embodies the spirit of an American tradition started by Mac Belford in the roaring 20’s. The revival of Brooklyn-based millinery brings you this perfectly crafted Ivy Cap made from exceptional light weight wool imported from the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. This wool is made by a cottage industry of weavers who work out of their homes and garages, powering their looms with bicycles to produce Harris Tweed.
Our factory in America then takes this unique fabric and creates a limited batch of this hat (only 12 of each color), complete with features such as soft lambs’ skin lining over the forehead and quilted polyester under the wool to provide maximum comfort.
As in the 20’s, every modern gentleman wears his cap in his own fashion, so we have sewn on a bronze snap that allows the hat to be worn open or snapped shut. Also, we have made brim pliable so that you can choose whether to wear it as a curved baseball cap shape or with a flat bill.
The hat size will stretch slightly with wear. Sizes are:
Medium (7, 22”, 56 cm)
Large (7 ¼, 22 5/8, 58 cm)
Extra Large (7 ½, 23 1/2”, 60 cm)
Extra, Extra Large (7 ¾, 24 1/4”, 62 cm).
Hats like these are known as Scally Caps, Driver Caps, Ivy Caps, Irish Caps, Newsboy Caps, Flat Caps, Gatsby Caps, Hunting Caps or Cabbie’s.
