Milan Wheat Straw braid that is about 6.25 mm wide and about 65 meters – 71 yards – long. (Mostly it is close to 6 mm wide). There is some variation in the width.
These plaited bundles (hanks) of straw were finely hand braided from wheat straw in China. They are also available in a slightly thinner braid (see the related products below)
The width of this braid is what most fine hat makers are using now. It is the width that most hatter’s machines are set to accommodate.
